I never thought I’d be the kind of person who likes podcasts — the idea of just listening to someone talk didn’t sound entertaining. But a few years ago I decided to give it a go, and I never turned back!
Hey, I get it—first thing in the morning or at the end of the day you just wanted to relax. But throwing a podcast or 2 into my commute (hello, no cell service subway!) has become one of my favorite rituals and sometimes even keeps me entertained while food shopping.
Here are a couple of my favorites:
4. How I Built This
This podcast interviews some of the most famous and influential entrepreneurs in the world! What I love about this podcast is, besides how inspirational these millionaires are, you get to hear their whole story and realize this could be you one day.
3. The Daily
What I love about The Daily is they highlight one big story in the news and talk about it for about 20 minutes. They break it down simply, so even if it’s a subject I don’t know about, by the end I have a pretty good understanding. It’s shocking to learn how much I don’t know about what’s going on in our country and around the world. This podcast has been a game changer.
2. Up First
Similar to the daily, it’s a 20-minute news podcast. In Up First, they go over the big stories from the day before. Again, it’s high level, but simple enough for someone who isn’t super well-versed in politics, economics, and current events can follow. Plus, it’s short enough to keep your attention, which is highly important if you’re listening pre-coffee.
1. Side Hustle School
This is the first podcast I ever listened to! I started listening to this when I was in a rut at work 2 years ago. Chris Guillebeau’s theory and practices are truly remarkable. This quick podcast tells the stories of people with side hustles. What I love about this is that the subjects are very regular people, who have either created something for themselves as a hobby and now have a steady side income to make their lives more comfortable. This podcast really gets you thinking of what you can do on the side!
I’m always on the lookout for a new podcast to add to my list… What are your favorites?
